Nashville Weather: Parts Of Middle TN Got 12 Inches Of Rain Since Friday; More On The Way Tuesday

A foot of rain has fallen in some parts of Middle Tennessee since Friday, and more is on the way today, the National Weather Service reported.

Areas around Shelbyville, Centerville, Tullahoma and Fayetteville have seen 12 inches. Some areas around Dickson and Nashville received roughly 6 inches. At least 2.5 inches have fallen across most of the region.

Heavy rain triggered flash flood warnings for several counties on Monday. Water rescues were reported in Spring Hill and Murfreesboro, with no injuries.

More rain is on the way Tuesday as a cold front begins to move in, with another 1/2 inch to 2 inches of rain expected, the forecast shows. The rain will taper off Wednesday, with temperatures topping out around 70.

NWS Nashville meteorologist Caroline Adcock said they're keeping a close eye on the Duck River, which has reached moderate flood stage in Centreville and minor flood stage in Columbia and Shelbyville.

"That may change with more rain later on," Adcock said.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR SEVERE WEATHER: Safe rooms, weather alerts, supplies

As always, it's a good idea to stay weather aware. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, including push alerts, radio, TV, social media or a weather radio. Have an emergency plan in place, along with extra supplies like water, food, essential medicine, clothing and flashlights.
